BUS RIDERSHIP POLICIES
UC Merced's
CatTracks is a service for persons affiliated with the
University of California (this includes faculty, staff,
students, and visitors.) Please refer to the bus policies
below for proper conduct in how to ride the bus.
CatCard/Bus
Pass-
To
catch CatTracks, find the nearest marked sign or location and
position yourself near the sign or location so the driver knows
that you want to ride.
Have your
valid/legible CatCard ready to present to the bus driver when
boarding the bus. The bus driver has the right to request
rider pay fare amount if CatCard is faded and/or unreadable, or
if rider does not own a CatCard.
The driver does not carry change!
No Runners- Drivers will not wait. Due to the strict
schedules of the bus stops, drivers are not to delay for
unnecessary reasons. Once the bus doors are closed, the
driver's focus is on safe departure from the stops by looking
for oncoming traffic and not for additional riders.
Drivers will not purposefully leave someone who can "touch the
bus", but they will leave any runners further away.
Bikes-
Most shuttles are equipped with bicycle racks, which can carry a
maximum of three (3) bicycles at a time. Availability is on a
first come, first serve basis. For your safety, bicycle
carrying capacity inside the bus will be left to the discretion
of the bus driver.
Food and Drink- Food and/or drinks are permissible on Cat Tracks.
Trash is collected on each bus. Please do your part, and
dispose of it properly. If there is a spill or mess,
please notify the bus driver to reduce the chance of someone
getting injured due to a slippery floor.
Lost and Found- Items may be found at the TAPS office the following
day. Office hours are 8:30am to 4:30pm Monday through
Friday (closed daily from 12noon to 1pm.)
